Our Story / History
Situated on the north side of Memorial Square, in the entertainment district of beautiful downtown Victoria, this architectural jewel was constructed in 1894 for the firm of A. Levi & Company. As a significant example of the "City Beautiful" architecture movement, it is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Operated as the Schumacher Wholesale Grocery Warehouse until 1952, the building held the city's first refrigerated grocery warehouse and to this day remains one of the least altered industrial sites in Victoria.
Now known as "Power Avenue Warehouse", in the spring of 1997, this engaging structure began a new chapter serving the community as an iconic event venue. Now, well over a century since being built, we are honored to carry on the legacy of this unique historic gem.
A little about us... we are grateful to have been born and raised right here in Victoria. We raised our own family here as well. We love caring for our community, valuing the relationships we make along the way. From the moment that Tammy took the initiative to stop what she was doing and walk outside to ease my mind, I knew my day was going to be as perfect as I had always dreamt it would be. Her immediate words were "you will get the same service here as you do at Chick-fil-A". I will remember that phrase forever. Let's be honest, customer service at Chick-fil-A is top notch here in Victoria.
Not long after securing the venue it was changing ownership which obviously led to severe uncertainty and anxiety, but after meeting with her, all of that immediately left my mind. From that moment on, I was always treated with priority with her and her team. I know this sounds cliche, but I literally felt like a princess throughout the whole process. When I learned that the venue had changed ownership, my daughter and I did a drive by just to scope it out. I was having our ceremony and reception at the venue so I was unsure if and what changes the new owner would be doing. As we drove by, we saw a vehicle parked out front with license plate "chicken" and knew it had to be Tammy. My daughter said, "let's just walk in" and I said, "no way, I'm scared", lol. My daughter had zero hesitation, and she went inside. A few moments later is when Tammy walked outside to my car to assure me I was in great hands.
As all brides know, during the planning process things change, ideas change, and you are all over the place with all of the things. Tammy and her team were right there with me every step of the way. Anytime I needed to pop in to check something out, I was always welcomed. They also helped collaborate with myself and my decor team on ideas and suggestions but never overstepped by being too much or too pushy. From brainstorming, to layout, to vendor deliveries, to clean up, it was the most absolute smooth and memorable ride. I cannot express enough thanks and gratitude to Tammy and her team at Power Avenue Warehouse for making my day, marrying the love of my life, the most memorable and perfect day that I had always dreamt of.
